146. Eat a blood orange

Completed sometime in college. This wasn’t a quest like the pomegranate, but just something that looked fancy to me and I wanted to try. The funny thing (well, not really funny, but kind of) was that Blake turned out to be allergic to the blood orange. His lips started burning and swelling up. So approach these babies with caution! I didn’t think a blood orange tasted much different than a regular orange, just more…intense. I little more bitter, I guess. Also like raspberries.

It just occurred to me that I always mention Blake in my posts and you must think I have no other friends! That’s not the case, it’s just Blake is the most willing participant in my shenanigans. I have plenty of blog posts ahead of my adventures at my friend’s bachelorette party in Chicago, the Warrior Dash with my friend Christen and our girl’s trip to Kiawah Island. I was just reading over some of my old posts and I was like, “Wow, I sound pathetic, like I’m attached to my husband’s hip!” Just wanted to clear that up, thanks!

Anyway, do you want to try a blood orange? Here are some recipes I found to help you out:
